# Quickstart

> Your first hour with Swan — sign up, teach it your business, connect a sender and your CRM, and launch a first sequence.

Swan works from day one as a chat you can ask for research, prospecting, and CRM work — but its real value shows up once it knows your business and can send outreach as your team. This page is the shortest path there. Each step links to the page that explains it in full.

## 1. Sign up

Sign up with your work email at [agent.getswan.com](https://agent.getswan.com). That creates your organization and starts a 14-day trial with a starter credit allotment — no payment details needed. Teammates with the same email domain can join your org automatically, or you can invite them directly from [Settings → Team](https://agent.getswan.com/settings/team). See [members, seats, and sign-up](../administration/members-seats-and-signup.md).

## 2. Teach Swan your business

Before Swan researches, writes, or qualifies anything, it reads your [org knowledge](../knowledge-and-skills/org-knowledge.md): your [value proposition](https://agent.getswan.com/knowledge/value-prop), your [competitors](https://agent.getswan.com/knowledge/competitors), and your ICP. The fastest way to fill it in is to tell Swan about your company in chat and let it draft the entries for you to review.

The part that matters most is the ICP — your [target market segments and buying-committee personas](../data/icp-personas-and-funnel.md), managed at [agent.getswan.com/knowledge/icp](https://agent.getswan.com/knowledge/icp). Until you define segments, companies stay unclassified: Swan still works, but it can't filter by ICP fit, and automations that depend on fit have nothing to match against.

## 3. Connect a sender

Outreach goes out through [senders](../outreach/senders-and-connected-accounts.md) — your own connected email and LinkedIn accounts, so messages come from a real person. Connect at least one email account (Gmail and Outlook via OAuth, anything else via IMAP) and, if you'll do LinkedIn outreach, a personal LinkedIn account, from [Tools](https://agent.getswan.com/tools). Your roster of connected senders lives at [Outreach → Sequences → Senders](https://agent.getswan.com/outreach/sequences/senders). Each sender gets its own [sending limits](../outreach/sending-limits.md) that keep volume within what providers consider normal.

## 4. Connect your CRM and Slack

Connect [HubSpot](../integrations/hubspot.md) or another CRM from the [integrations catalog](../integrations/built-in-integrations.md) at [agent.getswan.com/tools](https://agent.getswan.com/tools) so Swan can read and write the records your team already lives in. Connect [Slack](../integrations/slack.md) from the same [Tools](https://agent.getswan.com/tools) directory so notifications, daily summaries, and approvals reach you where you already work — you can approve outreach straight from Slack without opening the app.

## 5. Launch a first sequence

Ask Swan in [chat](https://agent.getswan.com/chat) — describe the audience and the goal ("build a sequence for heads of RevOps at my ICP fintech accounts, focused on the reporting pain point"). Swan finds the contacts, builds the [sequence](../outreach/how-sequences-work.md), and drafts the messages. Nothing sends until you approve: the sequence waits for your [approval](../outreach/approvals.md), you can edit any message before it goes, and sending then paces itself inside the default Mon–Fri sending window — see [scheduling and cadence](../outreach/scheduling-and-cadence.md).

## 6. Watch it work

Replies, connection outcomes, and anything needing a human decision land as [tasks on the Desk](../workspace/desk-and-tasks.md) (`https://agent.getswan.com/desk`) and in Slack. Every run is recorded in [executions and history](../workspace/executions-and-history.md), and sequence performance shows up in [analytics](../workspace/analytics.md) at [agent.getswan.com/outreach](https://agent.getswan.com/outreach).

## 7. Then automate

Once the manual loop feels right, make it standing: set up a [trigger](../triggers/how-triggers-work.md) at [agent.getswan.com/triggers/new](https://agent.getswan.com/triggers/new) so Swan reacts on its own — new CRM deals, [website visitors](../triggers/website-visitors/README.md), a weekly schedule — or install a ready-made play from the [template library](../knowledge-and-skills/templates.md).

## Common questions

**Do I need a credit card to try Swan?**
No — the trial starts when your org is created, with no payment details required. See [plans and billing](../administration/plans-and-billing.md).

**What's the minimum setup before Swan can send outreach?**
A connected sender and your approval on the sequence. Org knowledge and a CRM connection aren't strictly required, but outreach written without your value proposition and ICP will be generic — step 2 is where the quality comes from.

**Can I try Swan without connecting my real inbox?**
You can do everything except send — research, prospecting, enrichment, and sequence drafting all work with no sender connected.

**I manage the team but won't send outreach myself — what do I set up?**
Steps 1, 2, and 4, then invite the teammates who'll send as [members](../administration/members-seats-and-signup.md) from [Settings → Team](https://agent.getswan.com/settings/team); each connects their own sender.
