# Bombora intent

> Fire a trigger when companies show buyer intent on topics you choose, either among your existing accounts or newly discovered ones.

A Bombora intent trigger watches for companies actively researching topics related to your business, using third-party intent data from Bombora, and fires your instructions when a company crosses the intent level you've set. ## Topics and intent level

You pick one or more Bombora topics to monitor (for example, a product category or a competitor name) and a minimum intent level that should trigger an alert:

* **Early research** — the lowest surge threshold.
* **Active research** — a stronger, more sustained signal.
* **In-depth research** — the highest signal, indicating deep, sustained research on the topic.

Bombora reports company-level surge signals, not individual-level data — you won't see which specific person at a company was researching, only that the company as a whole is showing intent on your chosen topics.

## Two modes

* **Target mode** watches a list of companies you already care about — a manual domain list, HubSpot lists, or filters against your own company data (revenue, employee count, ICP segment, tags). Swan checks whether any of them are showing intent on your topics.
* **Find mode** searches for net-new companies showing intent on your topics, using firmographic filters (location, revenue, size, industry, company age, tech stack) to narrow the search, rather than a fixed list.

Find mode returns at most 50 companies per check by default; you can lower that cap, up to a maximum of 50.

## How often it checks

Checks run on a schedule you define, but at most once a week — Bombora's data doesn't refresh often enough to justify checking more frequently, so the minimum interval between checks is 7 days. Daily or hourly cadences aren't accepted for this trigger type.

## Re-alerts and deduplication

Once a company has been surfaced for a given trigger, it generally won't be surfaced again for the same trigger — with one exception: in target mode, if that company's intent score later increases (it's researching even more intensely), you'll be notified again with the updated signal. In find mode, a company that's already been surfaced is excluded from future searches for that trigger entirely, so it won't come back even if its score changes.

## Common questions

**Does Bombora tell me how many people at a company are researching, or which pages they viewed?**
No — Bombora reports a company-level intent score and topic, not page-level or person-level browsing detail.

**Can I run this trigger daily?**
No, the minimum check interval is weekly.

**What happens if a company matches multiple topics I'm tracking?**
It's still one detection for that company against this trigger; the matched topics are included together rather than firing separately per topic.

**Does Bombora intent data cover companies outside the US?**
Bombora includes non-US coverage, and its intent data is GDPR-compliant — it's consent-based, aggregated at the company level, and doesn't track or store personal information. That said, its coverage is historically deepest in the US, so depth varies by region; check with your Bombora rep or Swan support if EU coverage for a specific market is a hard requirement for your use case.

**Can I combine target mode and find mode in one trigger?**
No — each Bombora intent trigger runs in one mode at a time; set up a second trigger if you want both a watchlist and open discovery.
