Connecting Slack lets Swan post notifications into your workspace, gives your team a channel to talk to Swan from, and lets you approve pending work without opening the web app.

Connecting

Connect it from the Slack card in Tools. You install the Swan Slack app and pick a channel for Swan to post general notifications in (the Integration tab’s Main Channel). You can optionally designate a separate inbox channel — the place Swan routes things that need a human response, like replies to outreach and pending approvals.

Inbox channel modes

If you set up an inbox channel, you choose how much comes through it from the Integration tab’s Inbox Mode setting (Slack card in Tools):
  • All messages — everything Swan would otherwise post.
  • Replies only (the default) — just prospect replies to your outreach.
  • Approvals and replies — replies plus anything waiting on a decision (sequence approvals, tool actions that need sign-off).

Approvals from Slack

When a sequence or a tool action needs a human decision, Swan can post it to Slack with approve/reject buttons directly in the message — you don’t need to switch to the web app to act on it. Slack interaction here is button-based: Swan reads your button clicks, not free-form replies typed under a notification message. To have an open-ended conversation with Swan, DM it directly or use the web app.

Talking to Swan

Any member of your Slack workspace can DM the Swan bot directly, or @-mention it in a channel it’s part of — each person gets their own conversation context. Swan resolves who’s messaging it by matching Slack account email to your Swan user, so if someone’s Slack email doesn’t match their Swan account, mentions and DMs from that account won’t resolve correctly.

Digests and summaries

Swan posts a daily digest to your notification channel every day at 09:00 UTC, plus a weekly summary. Both are on by default and can be turned off in your Slack integration settings.

Credit usage alerts

Your notification channel gets an alert when your org crosses 50% and 90% of its monthly credit allotment, and again once credits run out. See credits for how the credit pool itself works.

Common questions

Can more than one person on my team DM Swan? Yes — every workspace member can message Swan individually, and each gets an independent conversation. Does Swan read replies typed under a Slack notification? No. Notifications with approve/reject buttons only respond to button clicks. For a conversation, DM Swan or mention it directly. What if I have Slack accounts in more than one workspace with the same email? That’s fine — Swan resolves you within the one workspace it’s connected to. Issues only arise if your Slack account’s email doesn’t match your Swan account’s email. Can I turn off the daily digest or weekly summary but keep other notifications? Yes, they’re separate toggles from your general notification and inbox settings. Is Slack required to use Swan? No, but connecting it is recommended — without it, you’ll rely on the Desk and email notifications for tasks and approvals. See chat and approvals.
