A Campaign is a business initiative that groups outreach sequences: “Q4 fintech outbound”, “Conference follow-ups”, “Website visitor follow-up”. Every sequence belongs to exactly one Campaign. Triggers and chat are where sequences come from; the Campaign is how they are filed, so one trigger can feed several Campaigns and one Campaign can collect sequences from several triggers and from chat. Campaigns were introduced on September 24, 2026. Before that, sequences weren’t grouped, and “campaign” was sometimes used to mean a single sequence. Campaigns live at Outreach → Campaigns. Each has a name, an optional description, and an owner (a member of your organization). A Campaign only groups sequences: it has no type or status of its own, and it doesn’t change how its sequences send.

What you see

The Campaigns list shows each Campaign’s owner, how many sequences are awaiting approval, reply rate, and last activity. Switch between All campaigns and Mine only, and use Search campaigns and contacts… to jump to a Campaign or to a contact in any Campaign. Opening a Campaign shows two tabs:
  • Enrolled — the Campaign’s lifetime numbers (enrolled, active, sent, contacted, replied, reply rate) and its sequences, with the same filters and sequence drawer the old Sequences list had.
  • Awaiting approval — every sequence in the Campaign waiting on a decision. Select one to review and approve or reject it; move through the list with the arrow keys or J and K. See Approvals.
For performance over a date range, use Outreach → Analytics, which filters by Campaign and breaks results down by Campaign.

How a sequence gets its Campaign

Swan picks the Campaign when a sequence is built, in this order:
  1. The Campaign chosen for that sequence. In chat, name the initiative and Swan finds or creates the matching Campaign. A trigger’s instructions can also name one.
  2. The trigger’s default Campaign. Set it on the trigger’s tools card under Default campaign. When it’s unset, the field reads Swan decides.
  3. Your personal default Campaign. Every member gets one on first use, named after them, for example “Dana’s sequences”. Chat outreach lands there when no initiative is named.
When a trigger has no default, every run that builds a sequence has to choose a Campaign itself. Swan usually reuses one that fits the play or creates one named after it, but a run can also choose the trigger owner’s personal default. Setting a default removes that choice and keeps the trigger’s sequences together.

Changing your default

Each member has one default Campaign per organization. Change it from a Campaign’s row menu with Set as my default. Your default shows a Your default marker in lists and pickers, and the previous default becomes an ordinary Campaign. Only you, or Swan in your own chat, can change your default; trigger runs never do.

Moving sequences

Move one sequence from its drawer, or select several and use the bulk action, then pick the destination Campaign. The picker can also create a new Campaign. Moving only changes where a sequence is filed; its status, schedule, inboxes, and messages stay the same. Swan can move sequences for you in chat, including every sequence in a Campaign at once. Trigger runs can’t move sequences.

Editing and deleting

Edit a Campaign’s name, description, or owner from its row menu, or ask Swan in chat. To delete a Campaign in the app, choose Delete from its row menu:
  • An empty Campaign is removed right away.
  • A Campaign in use (it has sequences, is someone’s default, or is a trigger’s default) must hand everything to another Campaign first. Pick the destination under Move contents to; its sequences, trigger defaults, and personal default move there.
Swan can also delete a Campaign from chat, and asks for your approval first. In chat you can choose to archive the Campaign’s sequences instead of moving them: every active sequence in it stops with the reason Sequence deleted and disappears from active views, and triggers that used it as their default lose that default. Someone’s personal default can only be deleted by moving its contents. Trigger runs can’t delete Campaigns.

Where the Sequences page went

Until September 24, 2026, every sequence was listed on one org-wide Sequences page. That page is gone; you reach sequences through their Campaign. Old links still work: /outreach/sequences opens Campaigns, and a sequence link like /outreach/sequences/{sequenceId} opens that sequence inside its Campaign. Links Swan posts in chat, tasks, and Slack still use the sequence URL.

Sequences created before Campaigns existed

When Campaigns launched on September 24, 2026, every existing sequence was filed once:
  • Sequences a trigger created went to that trigger’s default Campaign, or to a new Campaign named after the trigger, which became its default.
  • Sequences created from chat went to the personal default of the member who asked for them.
  • Sequences with neither an identifiable trigger nor an active member went to an organization Campaign named Unassigned sequences.
Move them wherever they belong; nothing about the sequences themselves changed.

Common questions

Is a Campaign the same as a sequence? No. A sequence is one contact’s set of steps. A Campaign is the folder those sequences sit in, named after the initiative they serve. Does creating a Campaign cost credits? No. Creating, editing, moving sequences between, setting defaults for, and deleting Campaigns are free. Building a sequence still costs 1 credit. Can a sequence be in two Campaigns? No. Exactly one. Do Campaigns affect sending? No. Sending limits, sending windows, and inbox availability are unchanged. A Campaign only groups sequences. Why does a trigger’s Default campaign read “Swan decides”? No default is set, so Swan picks a Campaign on each run. Set a default to keep the trigger’s sequences in one place.
