Sending limits

Every sender (a connected email or LinkedIn account) has its own daily and weekly sending caps. These exist to keep sending volume within what mailbox providers and LinkedIn consider normal for a human account, protecting deliverability and account health.

Default limits

If a LinkedIn account is on Sales Navigator, its defaults are raised, since Sales Navigator accounts tolerate more LinkedIn activity:

Can I change these limits?

Not yet — the caps above are fixed defaults today (with the Sales Navigator uplift applied automatically). If you want to throttle a sender below the caps, the practical lever is the sending window, configured at Tools → Outreach → Configuration (where sending hours and days are set): Swan advances at most one email per sender roughly every 3 minutes, so each hour of sending window allows roughly 20 emails per sender. Restricting a sender’s sequences to a one-hour window, for example, caps that inbox at roughly 20 emails a day regardless of the 150/day limit. See Scheduling and cadence for how the pacing works.

Resets

Daily counters reset at 00:00 UTC. The weekly connection-request counter resets every Sunday. Resets apply per sender, not per sequence, so a sender’s usage is shared across every sequence it’s assigned to.

What happens when a limit is hit

When a sender hits a limit for a given channel, any contact whose next step needs that channel is parked in a “waiting on limits” state instead of erroring out. Nothing is lost — as soon as the counter resets (or a limit is raised), Swan picks the contact back up on its next scheduling pass and continues from where it left off. One sender per sequence

Every sequence sends through exactly one sender. That sender can have both an email account and a LinkedIn account attached, so a single sequence can still mix email and LinkedIn steps — but you can’t assign multiple senders to one sequence or vary the sender per step. To spread volume across several inboxes, split the contacts into separate sequences, each with its own sender; each sequence then draws on its own sender’s daily and weekly caps.

Common questions

What’s the actual daily email limit per inbox? 150 emails per day by default, per sender. In practice the pacing (roughly one email per sender every 3 minutes) and your sending window usually bind first — a 10-hour window allows roughly 200 sends, so shorter windows effectively lower the cap. Do limits reset at midnight in my timezone? No — resets happen at 00:00 UTC for everyone, regardless of the sequence’s or sender’s timezone. If a contact is “waiting on limits,” do I need to do anything? No — it resumes automatically once the sender’s counter resets or has room again. Does having Sales Navigator automatically raise my limits? Yes, Sales Navigator accounts get higher default LinkedIn limits than standard accounts. Can I use multiple senders to increase throughput? Not within a single sequence — each sequence has exactly one sender. To scale volume, split your contact list into several sequences with a different sender on each; total daily throughput then grows with the number of sequences/senders. Are limits shared across sequences, or does each sequence get its own quota? Limits belong to the sender (connected account), not the sequence — a sender used in five sequences still has one daily quota shared across all of them.
